Hi Christiaan Page here, and welcome to 100 Days of Summer. We are counting down the last 100 days towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. It has been great launching this little project of Vlogging and blogging, especially the questions I have been getting. These have ranged from what’s involved in the last 100 days, to specific questions on the delivering of certain technology. It is great to be sharing my knowledge about an area I have been involved in for the last 30 years. Keep the questions coming.
Today’s question I am going to answer is, what technology infrastructure is being deployed in the last 100 days? That is a really good question. In most event scenarios, you will have a lot of systems like audio video, like the big video boards. You also have the networks that support these systems, like the DIVA network, which is used to transport all the information around the venue. We also have the land and telecoms infrastructure, and the timing/scoring/result system, which is critical to the delivery of the Games. Most of this is deployed in the last 100 days. Because of the scale of the project, there are 43 competition venues in Tokyo, we need to simultaneously get multiple venues ready at the same time, all within the last 100 days. A lot of the actual venue infrastructure will already be in place, like the core structures, but the technical equipment needs to be deployed in these last 100 days. Hopefully that answers your question and gives you a bit more insight.
